IKM currently provides multi-disciplinary consultancy services for the upgrade and refurbishment of the client’s tank farm. The refurbishment works typically consist of the overhaul of individual (or a group of) tanks within a live petrochemical facility.
The site presents a number of challenges including access restrictions, existing live services, contamination, poor ground conditions, the potential for a flammable atmosphere, and a high water table.
IKM provides multi-disciplinary civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and surveying assistance from an early stage in the project through to completion. Each project brings its own unique set of challenges due to the age and size of the facility.
We work closely and have developed a good working relationship with the client’s project team which has been fundamental in the successful delivery of over 20 new build and overhauled tanks. We have developed a standardised approach to the detailing of tank foundations, piping/electrical supports, and access structures to allow us to deliver in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
IKM provides the following key services:
Civils: Enabling works (temporary access structures, bund excavations, and reinstatements, haul roads, crane pads), tank foundations with integral leak detection system and below tank liner (granular, reinforced concrete raft, piled), cut-fill analysis for re-grading, drainage, piping/electrical supports, access structures and other miscellaneous civil/structural related items.
Surveying: Topographical survey, utility detection, pipe tie-ins, laser scanning (refer to the IKM Surveying website for a full description of services provided).
Geo-environmental: Pre Excavation Contamination Assessments (PECA), geotechnical ground investigation, waste classification, air monitoring (refer to the IKM Geo-Environmental website for a full description of services provided).
IKM also provide support through the tender stage and on-site technical assistance supporting the construction team throughout the construction phase of the works.
