We provide our clients with a complete design and consultancy service developing solutions from feasibility through to detailed design.

Responsibilities

While working for IKM you’ll have the opportunity to work on and be exposed to some exciting projects and work with some accomplished colleagues.  The successful candidate will be given responsibility for a workload that is challenging, fast paced and highly variable. The role will include:

  • You will be working on the design and delivery of industrial projects utilising steel and/or reinforced concrete, including sub-structure, from concept to detailed design.
  • You will provide technical expertise to support in the successful delivery of assigned projects.
  • You will have excellent communication skills liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will contribute to design risk management and mitigation.
  • You will develop, or input to, project proposals and tender submissions.
  • You will prepare technical deliverables for assigned projects ensuring compliance with our ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • You will support project managers in the delivery of multidisciplinary projects to agreed budget and programme.
  • You will support the technical development of junior staff.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop new specialist technical skills in blast and gas resistant design (optional).
  • You will have the opportunity to manage the delivery of projects (optional).
  • You will have the opportunity to line manage junior staff (optional).

We’re looking for a candidate with the following experience and qualifications:

  • Competent with Microsoft Office.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Good verbal communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience / understanding of all stages of the design and construction process.
  • Experience writing clear and precise technical reports and comfortable presenting findings/recommendations.
  • Can work to tight timescales and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to attend client sites, as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong structural engineering technical skills within an industrial environment such as oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing or defense.
  • You will be BEng, MEng or MSc qualified in Civil / Structural Engineering.
  • You will have 5+ years’ experience in an engineering consultancy and be chartered with IStructE or ICE (or have a clear plan to achieve this).
