Badger Licensing: Streamlining Offers Cost and Programme Savings
IKM News • Jan 2018

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) now issue personal badger licences to ecologists who have significant experience of badger survey and mitigation for development sites. These licences are being issued to streamline the licensing process which will allow SNH to concentrate their resources on the most complex cases, whilst acknowledging that there are ecology professionals with the expertise to manage licensed badger work with little support from SNH.
We are pleased to say that one of the first personal badger licences was issued to our Principal Ecologist, Dr Jackie Hay, last year and we can therefore offer our clients cost savings associated with the licence application process as well as significant programme savings by negating the need for the potential six week review period for new licence applications. The award of this personal licence acknowledges Jackie’s many years of commitment to working with badgers on development sites and the knowledge base that she has built up during this time.
If you would like further information on badgers, please contact our Principal Ecologist Dr Jackie Hay by phone on 01324 878822 or email jacqueline@ikmconsulting.co.uk
