Brief

IKM Consulting Ltd undertook the investigation of a number of tanks within a major refinery Tank Farm. The aim was to assess historical contamination of the bund floor from spillages and to evaluate the potential hazard posed by "lead graves" - areas used for the dumping of treated leaded tank scale during tank cleaning operations.

Solution

IKM Consulting Ltd designed a site investigation strategy and carried out risk assessments to determine the appropriate protective equipment to be used to protect IKM field personnel during site investigation works. 

Outcome

Continuous monitoring of levels of organic and inorganic lead provided confirmation that personal protection was appropriate and sufficient.
