Brief

IKM were appointed to undertake the full civil, structural, architectural and environmental services for a new Waste Transfer Station in Glasgow. The new facility site was to expand the existing site capacity and to serve the ever increasing demands for recycling & reducing landfill. Our services included feasibility, planning, environmental reporting, detail design and project management.

Solution

The proposals encompassed the demolition of an existing building on the site, and the erection of a new 30m x 90m steel portal-framed facility, offering maximum flexibility of use internally. Issues of noise, ecology, dust suppression and 24hour working were all addressed.
