Brief

IKM Consulting Ltd provided environmental and structural engineering support to Donaldson Associates for the construction of a 1.5km new track for the East Coast Main Line between Edinburgh and Dunbar.

The realigned section addressed potential medium-term issues relating to mining settlement and runs on a combination of piled concrete slabs and grouted / vibro-compacted ground.

Solution

IKM prepared an Environmental Statement and the Planning Submission for the works. Our Engineers then provided structural design and checking services.

Outcome

IKM also assisted with the day to day running of the Environmental Management Plan, which helped to minimise environmental impacts during construction.
