Brief

IKM Consulting Ltd was requested by a petrochemical client to carry out a Phase 2 Site Inspection for a proposed pipe-coating yard on the Caspian Coast. The site was extensively contaminated following 100 years or more of industrial use.

Solution

IKM carried out an intrusive site investigation to international best practice, using local contractors. Soil, water and air samples were taken.  Innovative rapid assessment techniques were also used in an on-site laboratory.

Outcome

The work culminated in the preparation of a remediation strategy for the site; a low-cost scheme suitable for local economic conditions, underpinned by computer-based risk assessment.
