Brief
A major civils contractor was required to assess the potential impact from noise and vibration on local residents and residential properties during the construction of a major new road bridge on the River Clyde.
Solution
IKM undertook baseline noise and vibration measurements. On completion of the baseline survey, noise and vibration predictive calculations were undertaken to assess the potential impact on local residents and residential properties from the piling operations.
The project was particularly sensitive as the surrounding area had recently been developed with flats, some of which were less than 10m from the work area.
Outcome
The bridge construction programme was completed successfully. The council who were supervising the works were satisfied that all feasible mitigation had been put in place and neighbour disturbance was kept to a minimum.
