Case Study: Noise & Vibration.
Location: Tradeston Bridge.

Brief

A major civils contractor was required to assess the potential impact from noise and vibration on local residents and residential properties during the construction of a major new pedestrian bridge on the River Clyde.

Solution

IKM undertook baseline noise and vibration measurements. On completion of the baseline survey, noise and vibration predictive calculations were undertaken to assess the potential impact on local residents and residential properties from the piling operations.

The project was particularly sensitive as a number of residential receptors were located in close proximity. Major commercial buildings were also within close proximity, including the British Telecommunications Plc offices on Broomielaw.

Outcome

The piling programme was completed successfully. The civils contractor was satisfied that all feasible mitigation had been put in place.
