Brief
IKM Consulting Ltd were appointed as consultant civil and structural engineers for the new £42m production facility and associated two storey office block.
Solution
The facility has been developed to separate a human oestrogen modulator from bio-engineered sheep's milk. This is then used in the production of a drug that will treat patients with lung complaints.
A fast track construction programme was adopted and there were many challenging design issues that had to be resolved.
Outcome
IKM's experience in this field, and our innovative and proactive approach resulted in a steel framed structure that satisfied the design brief and provides economy and flexibility for the client.
