Brief

IKM Consulting Ltd were appointed to assess the condition of a suspension pipe bridge over the River Avon, Grangemouth. 

Solution

Safety and rescue plans were developed and approved by the client and the emergency services.

Outcome

Engineers wore harnesses and automatic lifejackets and were attached to the main suspension cable at all times. A safety boat was on permanent standby.

A thorough structural assessment of all parts of the bridge was made possible and recommendations for repair were produced in a cost effective manner.
