Brief

IKM Consulting Ltd undertook a Glazing Study and Vulnerability Review for occupied buildings within a petrochemical complex, to assess their safety in the event of an explosion. 

Solution

As part of the IKM study, all glazing units within  each of the buildings were checked by optical measuring equipment and the type of glass ascertained.

Outcome

Following the glazing study and identification of structural features, IKM identified options for structural improvements which would improve safety and reduce the vulnerability of building occupants to accidental blast.

IKM Consulting identified the nature and extent of existing glazing and made recommendations for the options available for upgrading, either in terms of replacement units or filming.
