Brief
IKM's engineers have recently designed a new fire training facility for the redeveloped Scatsta Airport in Shetland. This busy airport services a large number of oil platforms in the North Sea and receives regular passenger jet flights from the mainland.
Solution
The old, outdated facility has been replaced with a state of the art aircraft simulator, on a properly bunded and drained foundation.
Outcome
IKM assisted with conceptual design and liaison. They then carried out the civil and structural design for the facility, and worked closely with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) on the drainage/interceptor system design and approval.
