Brief

IKM's environmental scientists provided specialist advice and monitoring to assist a contractor with the renewal of a rail overbridge in Glasgow.

The works were in close proximity to residential properties, with the nearest flats being only a few metres from the work area.

Solution

IKM provided structural surveys of local properties, and carried out vibration and noise monitoring throughout the works. Periodic formal environmental audits and advice as required, ensured that the works were carried out to best construction practice, with the minimum of disturbance.

Outcome

The potential environmental impacts of the reconstruction works were assessed and minimised, reducing the potential for complaints from local residents which helped the project reach completion without delay.
